How to Calculate Area
Area measures the two-dimensional space inside a boundary. The formula depends on the shape:
Rectangle or Square
Area = Length × Width
A room that is 15 feet by 12 feet:
area = 15 ft × 12 ft

Triangle
Area = (Base × Height) / 2
A triangle with a 10 m base and 6 m height:
base = 10 m
height = 6 m

Room Square Footage (Flooring)
Calculating flooring for a home:
living room = 15 ft × 18 ft
bedroom 1 = 12 ft × 14 ft
bedroom 2 = 11 ft × 12 ft
kitchen = 10 ft × 12 ft
total area = total

How do I calculate the area of a room in square feet?
Measure the length and width of the room in feet, then multiply them together. For example, a room that is 15 feet by 12 feet has an area of 15 x 12 = 180 square feet. For irregular rooms, divide them into rectangles, calculate each area separately, and add them together.
How many square feet are in an acre?
